Teilhard Frost & Jock Tyldesley
Teilhard and Jock found a shared love of Appalachian fiddle tunes around a full table, licking plates and dancing in the kitchen. They’re both tall, rather polite, love great food and play twin fiddles and occasional banjo, and who knows what else too!
Canadian musician and instrument maker, Teilhard (tay-YAR) Frost specialises in traditional folk music with a focus on Appalachian old time music. He has spent the last twenty years touring with the sensational rag-time outfit Sheesham, Lotus, and ‘Son. Other work include The Os project with Jason Mercer (Ani diFranco, Ron Sexsmith), The Complete Recordings of Hezekiah Proctor with L’il Andy, Succeeder with Michael Duguay, Jenny Whiteley, Joey Wright, and miles of studio session work for over 50 albums and film. He currently lives on Wolfe Island in the St. Lawrence River, straddling the border of Canada and the United States. There he makes banjos, his supper and his bed.
Jock Tyldesley is perhaps best known for his fiddling in Cajun bands such as The Flatville Aces and the Bearcats, as well as more off-the-wall antics with The New Rope String Band and The Chipolatas.
He also nurtures a long-time passion for Southern Appalachian old time fiddle and banjo tunes, whilst touring with his regular bands and US acts such as Eddie LeJeune, The Dirk Powell Band, Sheryl Cormier, Martha Scanlan, Beverly Smith and Carl Jones and Balfa Toujours.

Kathryn Williams is a British, Mercury Prize-nominated singer-songwriter. With 17 albums under her belt in the last 27 years, her last solo album, Night Drives, debuted at #2 in the official folk album charts, while her last album, a collaboration with Withered Hand titled Willson Williams was nominated for the SAY and AMA awards. Label One Little Independent celebrated her career (thus far) with a 20-CD and two-book box set, Anthology, strewn with her artwork.

Ollersett are a folk trio based in the Dark Peak, blending original sets with folk tunes from Celtic and Scandinavian traditions.

Riley Baugus represents the very best of old time American banjo and song. His powerful singing voice and his expert musicianship place him squarely in the next generation of the quality American roots tradition.
Riley is a native of the southern Appalachians. The Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina is where his roots lie, and he grew up learning the music and art of storytelling of the region from older musicians in the area. His solo show consists of a focus on banjos, ballads, stories and songs.
ABM are delighted to be working with Riley on a November 2022 tour: Banjos, Ballads, Stories and Songs of the Southern Appalachians.
He has toured in the UK for many years with Ira Bernstein, as one half of the hugely popular Appalachian Roots project. He has played at Celtic Connections several times with Dirk Powell, and also toured with Tim Eriksen in the States, as part of the Cold Mountain film tour, and as a duo.
Riley has also recorded with Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, and with Willie Nelson – both T-Bone Burnett projects.

Mark and David are singing, songwriting, strumming and swigging buddies from the Badlands of the Cheshire Plain.
Radcliffe has been on BBC national radio since the early nineties and currently hosts the Radio 2 Folk Show and weekend breakfast on 6Music. He is also the author of five bestselling books, the latest being ‘Crossroads’ In Search Of The Moments That Changed Music’. Previously a member of folk-rock bands The Family Mahone and Galleon Blast, he is currently one half of electronic duo UNE and drummer and lyricist for Americana band Fine Lines.
David Boardman. A consummate guitarist and guitar teacher, David cut his teeth on the rock circuit with Darktown Jubilee touring not only the UK but also North America and Canada. A gifted visual artist, Boardman met Radcliffe in their hometown of Knutsford where their writing partnership soon paid dividends.
Their act is one of classic simplicity: two voices, two guitars, some great original songs, the odd carefully chosen cover and the occasional rambling anecdote. It might not sound like much, but they seem to be getting away with it….so far.

English folk singer, guitarist and producer. Winner of five BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, fRoots Critics Poll, Mojo Folk Album Of The Year.

Salt House have been a mainstay on the folk scene for over a decade. The band’s reputation as thoughtful and innovative interpreters of both ancient ballads and contemporary songs has been solidified with acclaimed album releases and extensive touring. Described as a "gentle, lulling delight" by The Guardian, Salt House blend heartfelt vocal and instrumental interplay, offering listeners a moment of reflection and connection.
New songs that sound like they’ve always been here, ancient ballads woken up. Poems given melodies they’ve long deserved.
Salt House's sound is influenced by the landscapes of the Scottish Highlands, Northumberland and Shetland, the respective homes of band members Ewan MacPherson (vocals, electric and acoustic guitars), Anna Hughes (vocals, fiddle, viola, tenor guitar) and Jenny Sturgeon (vocals, keys, guitar). They incorporate their natural surroundings into the fabric of the music that speaks of a shared love of place, people, and evolving tradition.for everyone at The Strines Nightingale.

STRINES Age Against The Machine DAYTIME Party (Over 30s Only) - Sat 16th May, 3pm-7pm
https://www.seetickets.com/event/age-against-the-machine/the-strines-nightingale/3480681
After a sold out event last summer (and numerous other cities around the country), Age Against The Machine are returning to The Strines Nightingale for another afternoon of over 30s fun!
For over 12 years now Don and Reg have been hosting sold out parties in London and around the UK for those who do not want to go gentle in to that good night and are still fighting hard for their right to party! And they're back in Strines again! Dropping the finest: pop, indie, rock, disco, Motown, rock ‘n’ roll, power ballads, soul, punk, ska, northern soul, funk and anything we think will get the floor moving.
We intend this event to be on the outdoor stage. However, with the British weather, we have a contingency to bring it indoors. It might be that certain portions are inside or out, our aim is to keep you dry but have the best shindig we can, and the outside wood space is an awesome place to have a party!
**As with all Age Against The Machine events this is strictly for over 30s only. Photo ID MUST be produced, even if you have purchased an advance ticket!
No Kids Allowed!
Age Against The Machine has appeared at numerous festivals over the years including Isle of Wight, Latitude, Standon Calling, Brighton Fringe and more.
"The perfect place to dance off those middle-age blues" Time Out
"Look out! The oldies are taking over!" Time Out
Basically, as it stands currently ( and we are working on this with the arts council for 2027 onwards….)
We dont have disabled toilets.
The outdoor areas are not mobility or wheelchair friendly at all as it stands.
Indoor gigs are usually fine for wheelchairs but the toilet cubicles are quite narrow.
We are really sorry for this, its a 250 year old pub going through a big transformation. Its very much on our agenda to fix this!
