ONLY LIVE PERFORMANCE THIS YEAR part of EVERYTHING AT ONCE with the Music Venues Trust.
Goldheart Assembly formed in 2007, as a group of six musicians from various different bands. They met at club nights, at Covent Garden’s Rock Garden, run by now-bandleaders James Dale and John Herbert. Slowly, after a period of “band hopping and stand ins,” a stable line-up became Goldheart Assembly, who bonded over a mutual love of The Beatles and named themselves after a Guided By Voices tune, Goldheart Mountaintop Queen Directory. Founding members James Dale and John Herbert often joke about how they met whilst working as zookeepers at Whipsnade Zoo.
In 2009 they recorded a live session for Steve Lamacq on BBC Radio 1, being the first unsigned band to do so “in years”. In the same year, the band performed on the BBC Introducing Stage at the Glastonbury Festival, as well as a headline slot at the Camden Crawl and appearances at Isle of Wight, Wychwood, Middlesbrough Music Live, Reading, Leeds and V festivals.
Goldheart Assembly’s debut single, a double A-side featuring the tracks So Long St. Christopher and Oh Really, was released on 15 June 2009 on the independent label Heron Recordings.
In late 2009 Goldheart Assembly signed to the independent UK label Fierce Panda Records. Their debut album, Wolves and Thieves, was released to digital download on 8 March 2010, with CD release on 15 March. The majority of the album was recorded at Forncett Industrial Steam museum in Norfolk, England, and several tracks feature the sound of live steam engines. The remaining tracks were recorded at Jools Holland’s Helicon studios with British producer Laurie Latham.

Simply Dylan delivers the songs of Bob Dylan with no attempt to imitate or impersonate the prodigious songwriter, instead the band focus on the bringing Dylan’s lyrics and clever storytelling alive with a joyous and exuberant sound.
From a modest project which sold out the famous Cavern Club 6 times, the band have gone on to receive fantastic reviews from the Spanish Press, impressing Dylan fans from across the UK, and opening up the IOW Festival 2019 performing on the Big Top Stage.
The band features John O'Connell, formerly of Groundpig, and other musicians, who have gained a reputation for performing some of Dylan’s more challenging songs. No ordinary interpretation, this is a remarkable and exceptional project which promises to delight Dylan fans young and old and to ignite a new wave of passion for one of the world's most prodigious songwriters.

Growing up, Joe Newberry and April Verch absorbed traditions of home and hearth – in his Missouri Ozarks and her Ottawa Valley of Canada. Although they are on the road much of the year, the two musicians are fond of saying that they are rarely homesick, because their music means they always have a bit of home with them wherever they go.

The Stockport based sisters Cathryn and Angela have woven a tapestry of harmonies and storytelling into their music, that reflects their cultural heritage.
And we welcome RIVERMOUSE for the first time, a folk collective from Milton Keynes. Onsale now.

STRINES Age Against The Machine DAYTIME Party (Over 30s Only) - Sat 2nd May, 3pm-7pm
https://www.seetickets.com/event/age-against-the-machine/the-strines-nightingale/3480681
After a sold out event last summer (and numerous other cities around the country), Age Against The Machine are returning to The Strines Nightingale for another afternoon of over 30s fun!
For over 12 years now Don and Reg have been hosting sold out parties in London and around the UK for those who do not want to go gentle in to that good night and are still fighting hard for their right to party! And they're back in Strines again! Dropping the finest: pop, indie, rock, disco, Motown, rock ‘n’ roll, power ballads, soul, punk, ska, northern soul, funk and anything we think will get the floor moving.
We intend this event to be on the outdoor stage. However, with the British weather, we have a contingency to bring it indoors. It might be that certain portions are inside or out, our aim is to keep you dry but have the best shindig we can, and the outside wood space is an awesome place to have a party!
**As with all Age Against The Machine events this is strictly for over 30s only. Photo ID MUST be produced, even if you have purchased an advance ticket!
No Kids Allowed!
Age Against The Machine has appeared at numerous festivals over the years including Isle of Wight, Latitude, Standon Calling, Brighton Fringe and more.
"The perfect place to dance off those middle-age blues" Time Out
"Look out! The oldies are taking over!" Time Out
Basically, as it stands currently ( and we are working on this with the arts council for 2027 onwards….)
We dont have specific disabled toilets. But they are ground level.
The outdoor areas are not very mobility or wheelchair friendly but we can be on hand to help!
Indoor gigs are usually fine for wheelchairs but the toilet cubicles are quite narrow.
We are really sorry for this, its a 250 year old pub going through a big transformation. Its very much on our agenda to fix this!
